Technical Details

Your Wii will have been configured using ModMII, an all in one tool which generates a custom package for your specific Wii based on a number of factors. The end result is you will be able to accomplish tasks such as:

<aside> ⚠️

Step one of reading this guide should be backing up your NAND backups somewhere safe. The SD card in the front of your console should contain 2 files on the root,  nand.bin and keys.binnand.bin is a backup of your console's internal memory, while keys.bin are your console's keys.

I suggest leaving these on the SD card as well as copying them somewhere safe, like a cloud storage platform. I try and keep hold of NAND backups I make in case the system returns to me, but only you can guarantee that these files are kept safe. They are REQUIRED in the event of a brick, which is quite possible if incorrect changes are made to the Wii (pay particular attention to custom themes, they can brick your console!)

USB Loader GX (ULGX)

I currently configure Wiis with USB Loader GX, which is very simple to use. Once a game is copied to the USB drive, it will appear in USB Loader GX automatically. UGLX can be accessed by selecting the “USB Loader” channel from the Wii home screen.

If the cover art is missing, it can be downloaded directly on the Wii. ULGX may do this automatically, but if it does not pressing “1” on the wiimote while hovering the game should manually trigger it for you.

In general, you won’t need to change any settings here.
